Theory of Exact Mix vs. Full Mix
Hybrid balloons were originally made for use with two sources in one balloon with different theories in mind. We started long ago with using one HMI harness and one tungsten harness in a tubular balloon for the purpose of using them separately. When mixing them together we found the HMI’s to be twice as efficient. Color corrections of 4200k (half cto) and 4800k (quarter cto) had to be achieved with a 2 to 1 mix (Exact mix) ratio. Sourcemaker Hybrid balloons are built with multi-source harnesses (interchangeable bulb system) for use with two different sources for two separate applications or to mix them to achieve a particular outcome. Sourcemaker’s EXACT MIX HYBRID can be used both ways. We can also supply FULL MIX HYBRIDS which has the maximum HMI output needed to compensate for sunlight in large day interiors and plenty of tungsten output for night work.
*All Hybrid balloons can be bulbed with any configuration of HMI and Tungsten bulbs for any desired result.*
- HMI Bulbs : 4k, 2.5k or 1.2k
- Tung. Bulbs : 5k, 2k or 1k
* The Cube is often used as a hybrid alternative to the space light, and has been rigged to studio grids.
